We had 15 players today at KGSAAS, playing the Sultan and Alam Shah 9’s. We got off at just after 8:00am on split tees. The Alam Shah 9 had sanded greens making it a little more difficult to putt. Otherwise course conditions were very good and the weather was great. Only compaint I had was that they had made a cut around the greens and this had created a raised edge which caught my ball on more than one occassion.
We were all back in the clubhouse by about 12:30 for lunch on the golfer’s terrace. Luch was washed down with the usual buy 2 get one free beer promotion.
Mike Williams was the clear winner today with an excellent gross 80 (best of the day) and 40 points ….. shame he couldn’t stick around to claim his free lunch. Runner up was Zak Zainal with 89 for 37. Full results below :
Player of the Month/Year
Below are the monthly and annual cumulative roll up scores. Ricardo still leads the board on the monthly and annual cumulative scores …. but it is still early days.
There were only 10 of us today for the game at KGSAAS …. should have been 11 but Geoff McLaws cancelled at last minute as he found he had left his clubs in Malacca after the Loose Cannons away the previous 2 days so he could not play and he had to drive back to Malacca to get his clubs.
The weather was overcast with grey skies as we tee’d off on the Alam Shah and Sultan 9’s and after only 3 holes we had to stop for about 20 minutes when the siren went to warn of lightning. We resumed and the rain stopped making it a fairly pleasant and cool game after that.
The course was in fairly good condition although the greens had recently been sanded making it important to clean your ball before putting.
We had lunch and a few jugs of beer at the clubhouse after the game ….. the club still has its special beer promotion … buy 2 get one free ….. good deal.
Scores were not great today but the winner was Ricardo Castro (hot off the Loose Cannons Tour in Malacca) with a 86 for 37 points. Runner up position was tied between Dave Evans (98 for 36) and Tony Morris (91 for 36). Most golf went to Erol Akinci and Longest Drive of the Day went to Geoff McLaws!! Full results below:
Player of the Month
It was a special FRID’ Eggs day today in that we were not limiting the numbers to 16 because of the quiz we planned after the game during lunch. So we had an overwhelming response from the members and had 23 members and 1 guest to make a total of 6 full flights today at KGSAAS.
We got off sharply at 8:00am from 2 tee boxes on the President and Shah Alam 9’s. The course was a little soft and spongy in many aresa particularly around the greens which made the going a little tougher than normal. The greens were good but a little on the slow side. Weather was good, somewhat overcast making it a little cooler today.
We had a private room booked for lunch today at Pantai Seafood with two large tables as we did a quiz with all the old photos submitted by members. This went down very well with the group ….. we had a 3 part quiz …. 1) spot the course, 2) spot the Egger and 3) identify the person from the old nostalgic photos.
Prior to the quiz a brief summary was presented with the history of the group plus the statistics of 2016 performance with prizes (details below) given out for the following :
- Most Games played : Allan Wright : box of balls
- Most Wins : Stuart Taylor : bottle of wine
- Best Stableford Average : Mike Williams : bottle of wine
The winner of the quiz was Peter Kenyon with 33 points (out of a total possible of 55 points) and runner up was Peter Davies with 32 points. The winner received a box of balls.
Many thanks to Richard Rodwell and Ricardo Castro who kindly donated a bottle of wine each for the prizes.
Also thanks to all our members who submitted their old photos which made the day with some very special photos.
Stuart Taylor, who will be celebrating a rather BIG Birthday in a week put in RM200 to the pot for lunch …… Thank You.
Scores were generally lower than we usually expect at this course with the exception of the winner and runner up. The winner today, by a long way, and with a personal best of 88 for 46 points was Peter Kenyon …. well done. Runner up was Kevin Wiggins with and excellent 85 for 41 points. Best gross of the day was Geoff McLaws with a 78. Full results below:
We had 15 Eggers today at KGSAAS and after a rather tedious and complex checkin we got started on two tee boxes on the Sultan & President 9’s. The course was in good condition and the greens good although we did notice there seem to be some significantly slower than others. The course was busier than normal today but we soon maintained a reasonable pace and we were all finished by 1pm.
We welcomed a guest this week, Ricardo Castro, and we hope to see him again for the weekly games.
Lunch post game was take at the club with beers kindly sponsored by Allan McNicoll who will be returning back to South Africa tomorrow … CHEERS Allan.
Scores were lower than normal at this course this week for some reason … but our winner was Peter Kenyon with 37 points and a gross of 95. Runner up was Richard Rodwell with the best gross of the day of 83 for 36 points. Full results below:
After an easy registration process, a dozen free-range Eggers teed off on time at KGSAAS in cloudy, fairly cool and slightly humid conditions on the President & Sultan 9’s. Barry Sage was late arriving and duly paid his RM 20 fine. Flight 1 got round in 3.5 hours, by which time it was getting hot and sticky. The other flights followed shortly afterwards.
The course as usual was in fine condition, with good grassy fairways and virtually no soggy patches. Greens were true and reasonably fast, with some tricky pin positions – as per usual.
Apres-golf lunch was taken at Pantai Seafood. Food quality and taste was eggsellent and was washed down with 12 large bottles of cold Tiger, along with 6 cans of Sprite.
Only 8 Eggers made it to lunch, with Flight 2 missing out entirely. Barry Sage had to go back to work (remember that?), Mike Williams and Kevin Wiggins had other arrangements. Tony Morris unfortunately only completed 9 holes and had to go home early – according to fellow Eggers allegedly due to “a boil on his cock that was catching when swinging”. Needless to say there was much discussion and many helpful suggestions over lunch about how and who could lance it for him. Allan Wright suggested he be known as a “Boiled Egger” until it gets fixed!
Today’s full scores are given below – unfortunately no-one at lunch had Barry Sage’s score
- Today’s winner was Richard Rodwell with 77 gross off the stick for 46 points – an eggseptional score, well done!
- Second was Alan Wright with 89 gross for 43 points – another eggselent performance
- Third was Mike Williams with gross 82 and 43 points
- Most eggsercised golfer today was Peter Kenyon with 110, closely followed by Brian Stubbs
- Lowest Gross of the day was Richard’s 77
Many thanks to Brian Stubbs for arranging the game and doing a wonderful report as above.
After overnight heavy rain it was a pleasant cool morning at KGSAAS when our 3 full flights teed off on Shah Alam and Sultan 9’s. The course was in pretty good shape and the greens in very nice condition but a little slow on the front 9. The course was quiet and we were all finished by just after 12 noon.
Welcome to Richard Rodwell’s guest, Murray Blair, today playing off a zero handicap – Murray used to be the pro at KGSAAS. He had a disappointing 75 ….. not often we say that on this blog!
We had lunch at Pantai Seafood Restaurant which unfortunately did not have the usual lunch special menu as it was still a “holiday” but Brian Stubbs very kindly offered RM200 to the pot to celebrate his birthday – many thanks Brian.
Some good scores on the door today with Allan Wright convincingly winning with a 93 for 44 points. Runner up was Stuart Taylor with an 83 for 40 points. Best gross of the day was Murray Blair with 75. Full results below :
